I watched Pulp Fiction the other night. I had forgotten how good a movie that was. It's pacing is right, the dialogue is engaging, and it captures the feeling of pulp exactly right. And what's more, John Travolta doesn't suck in it.
I know, I'm shocked as well.
That movie came out in 1994. Playing Vincent Vega indisputably revived Travolta's career. I'll even admit that there are a few films he's done since that have been good, and that he has been good in. But overwhelmingly he's taken the low road, especially recently. Wild Hogs? Really? Old Dogs? Are you kidding? Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride? Oh, did you not know they're making that?
They are. They are making god damn Wild Hogs 2. No one asked for this.
But that's another story. From Paris With Love looks like a real stinker especially because of John Travolta's ridiculously bald, meaty mug with it's half-dollar sized earring. He plays FBI agent Charlie Wax, a name I'm sure will draw out a few puns. Big showdown in a candle factory? Seems likely.
At some point Chalrie Wax talks about wanting a "Royale with cheese." For those who don't remember, we're glad you made it out of that coma. There's something out now called an iPod. You should check it out.
Obviously someone thought they were a genius to make this reference to Travolta's character in Pulp Fiction. They were, unfortunately, wrong. All this reference does is remind people how much Travolta threw away his chance to be in good movies again. Weak.
Weak, I say.
